Apple iPhone 3G - Still the Best Mobile Phone

Carefully carried through the office like an unopened birthday present, the Apple iPhone 3G gently made its way to our desk. Floppy-haired co-workers eagerly huddled around, waiting for the screen to turn on and display all the new goodies the iPhone 3G has in store. Questions echoed around the room: would 3G be that much faster than EDGE? Does GPS make it a more useful phone?

There was simply no doubt that this is an exciting product, but after the hype dissolved and people went back to their desks, we had some important questions of our own to answer. If anything, Apple knows how to hype its products and for the most part it delivers, but the original iPhone wasn't perfect and we were determined to see whether the iPhone 3G had enough to offer over its predecessor to justify an upgrade.

The iPhone 3G is available to buy from Apple, Carphone Warehouse and O2's online and high street outlets. You can buy it on a monthly contract, starting at £30 a month with a £99 upfront charge for the 8GB model, or £159 for the 16GB. You can get it for free if you pay more than £45 a month. Alternatively there's a pay as you go option too, if you'd rather not be on a contract, but Apple hasn't yet announced the price.

Design
When you open the lid of the iPhone 3G's compact box, you'll think it's not really that different to the original iPhone. The front section is indeed very similar to its predecessor -- the screen is the same size, the ear speaker and home key at the bottom look the same and the silver rim around the edges is the same as the old one too.

It's when you take the iPhone 3G out of its box that you start to see the differences. The back section features plastic instead of metal and curved edges similar to the MacBook Air's. Technically it's thicker than the original at its thickest point, but the curved edges genuinely make it feel thinner. You'd expect it to feel more flimsy, but the type of plastic used makes it feel quite solid -- we do expect it to get scratched though.

Something else completely different in design to the original iPhone is the headphone jack. The original iPhone features a recessed jack, which only allows you to use headphones with pins that fit through the gap. The iPhone 3G's headphone jack is flush against the edge, meaning you can plug in any headphones, which will make a massive difference to the sound quality you can enjoy.

Overall, the feel of the iPhone 3G is, as expected, superb. It feels every inch how you want a smart phone to feel. It's neither too heavy nor too light, it feels solid without being overly bulky, and the screen -- almost identical to the original iPhone's -- is a joy to look at.

Features
When the iPhone first came out, many people were disappointed to see that it lacked 3G, among other things. As you may have gathered, Apple has fixed this -- in fact, it's gone one better and included HSDPA, which is an even faster version of 3G. And it makes a massive difference. Browsing the Web and watching YouTube videos is lightning fast compared to the old iPhone, which was hamstrung on EDGE. We loaded the Sky News homepage on the original iPhone in 1 minute 40 seconds. The iPhone 3G took just 40 seconds to load the same page -- over 2.5 times as fast.

GPS is another addition to the iPhone 3G's artillery -- and it blows the old model to smithereens. Compared to the original iPhone's cellular and Wi-Fi triangulation, using GPS on the iPhone 3G is far more accurate. GPS pinpointed our location to within metres rather than kilometres. For the time being it only works with Google Maps, which doesn't do voice navigation. Some pundits have suggested Apple isn't keen on third-party developers creating navigation apps, but we'll have to wait and see.

Nokia E75: The one to watch

While many people will have their eyes firmly fixed on the Nokia N97 out at the Mobile World Congress next month, don't get too distracted by it -- Nokia is apparently also going to be announcing the E75.

On the face of it, the E75 isn't as cool as the N97 -- it doesn't have a touchscreen for starters -- but we love the E series and think this one's going to be a scorcher. The E series is all about keeping you connected and the E75 holds this credo to its very core.

On the front you get a relatively large screen and standard phone keypad, but hidden underneath is a full slide-out Qwerty keypad for messaging. Hook this up to Wi-Fi and HSDPA and you've got a messaging phone to be reckoned with.

Since launching the E71, Nokia has a seen a sudden surge in consumer demand for more 'business-style' handsets -- we've been supporters of the E series for a long time, so we're glad to see it finally go mainstream. The E75 and N97 will most likely be Nokia's best sellers this year, which makes us hope it decides to add the Comes With Music service to both handsets, so that we can download as much music as we like to them.

You can compare pay monthly deals on new Nokia E75 phone, since it is available at free of cost with amazing offers & incentives. Low price & free line rental deals on E75 mobile phone are more popular as compare to other available contract deals on Nokia E75 phone. take a look and compare lowest rental deals.....

Nokia 6710 Navigator Mobile Phone

Nokia's third Navigator in the series, the 6710, is barely the best of the bunch thus far, with specs and features too similar to last year's release.

Upside
The most obvious improvements over last year's 6210 Navigator will be a slightly bigger screen (up from 2.4 to 2.6 inches) and a curved slider design for improved ergonomics, similar to the design of the HTC Dream.

The 6710 Navigator will include the latest version of Nokia Maps pre-installed, version 3.0, giving users access to aerial photography (like Google Maps), built-in weather display and Navteq's new 3D landmarks. To make using the maps easier, the 6710 sports a touch-sensitive zoom area below the screen and appears to have more accurate incremental zooming than was possible using keypad shortcuts.

Most of the phone's hardware will remain the same; HSDPA, Wi-Fi, A-GPS (of course), a digital compass for more accurate pedestrian navigation, plus this year's model will also include HSUPA (the uplink sibling of HSDPA) to help you upload those geotagged photos you take to your Flickr account faster. Speaking about photos, the 6710 will also feature a 5-megapixel Carl Zeiss camera with an LED flash and autofocus.

Downside
The fact that the phone's hardware, especially its screen size, is mostly the same as the former is a disappointment. Someone needs to make a navigation mobile phone with a 3.5- to 4-inch display and turn-by-turn directions. Nokia has half of this equation taken care of, and with its new touchscreen-capable fifth version of its Series 60 platform, now is exactly the time we'd expect the world's largest phone maker to act.

Also, call it an educated guess, but we aren't expecting Nokia to include a lifetime navigation licence with Nokia Maps like it did with the first Navigator model. Instead, we expect to be offered a try-before-you-buy style package with a few months of turn-by-turn directions. Press releases from Nokia about the 6710 have cautiously avoided the issue, but don't get your hopes up for a phone plus GPS package without being prepared to pay a little extra.

Overall
From a distance, the 6710 seems an underwhelming announcement. We want a more considered approach to a navigation phone, not just another Nokia slider with Maps installed. There's still space in the market for a truly terrific mapping handset, but we're pretty sure this isn't it. Nokia could stitch up the competition with its maps, plus a huge touchscreen and lifetime turn-by-turn directions built into the price, but we're still waiting.

HTC Magic Phone - Exclusive on Vodafone

htc magic phoneTo our disappointment, there hasn't been a ton of Google Android news to come out of GSMA Mobile World Congress 2009 so far. Huawei announced on Monday that it plans to start selling Android devices later this year, but other than that we didn't see a T-Mobile G2, and Samsung already said it would not show its Android phone at the show as it has been delayed until the second half of 2009.

However, we did get one device announcement. The bad news is that it's not for the U.S. market. On Tuesday, Vodafone said it will bring the HTC Magic to market this spring--the first Google Android device for the carrier. The Magic will be a Vodafone exclusive in the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, and France and will be available on a nonexclusive basis in Italy.

The HTC Magic features a 3.2-inch HVGA touch screen and trackball navigator, but doesn't have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard like the T-Mobile G1. The quad-band smartphone will offer various e-mail options, including Gmail (of course) and POP3 and IMAP accounts, and will support Google applications like Google Maps and Google Search. Vodafone customers will also have access to the Android Market, from where they can download more applications and games for their smartphones. Other goodies include a Webkit browser, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HSDPA/WCDMA (900/2100MHz), and a 3.2-megapixel camera.

The HTC Magic will come in multiple colors: white for United Kingdom, Spain, and France; black for Germany; and both colors for Italy. Exact release dates and pricing schemes were not announced at this time, though there was mention that the Magic would be "available for free on various price plans." Vodafone also plans to release the HTC Magic in other markets over the next few months.

Compare Best LG KM900 Arena Mobile Deals

The LG KM900 boasts of a first 3D user interface. The multimedia cube is a cool idea as well as a host of new interface. But the question all of you are itching to ask is: is it fast? From the looks of it, yes. Second question: Is it as fast as the iPhone? No. This first hands on video of the LG Arena on You Tube shows that the interface is smooth and fast when it comes to their multimedia cube but it takes a while for the contacts to load and the interface still suffers from unresponsiveness at times. But hey, since you came to this page to know about the LG Arena, I'm assuming that you're not a iPhone fan and some quirks such as unresponsiveness and lagginess may not bother you so good for you and read on.

If Samsung made use of Bang and Olufsen technology for their audio, the LG KM900 is the first device to use Dolby Mobile. Hopefully, using Dolby Mobile would mean that we'll get awesome surround sound. The 3-inch screen has WVGA resolution so it would be ideal for watching DVD quality movies.

The LG Arena has a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and can capture DVD resolution video at 120 frames per second. If LG used their camera technology on the ViewTy then we'll have no problems with image quality but with autofocus only and no Flash? I'm disappointed.

The LG KM900 also has WiFi, a TV-Out feature, HSDPA 7.2, FM radio, 8GB internal memory expandable via MicroSD slot up to 32GB, and A-GPS. The expandable memory coupled with the impressive audio and display capabilities really got me excited and certainly make the Arena a great companion on any long journey, where I can just dip into my favourite films and songs.

LG's new UI is definitely interesting. Everything looks user friendly and aside from a few hiccups, which hopefully wouldn’t show on its retail version, it looks like another winner from LG. However, I don't see anything that separates it from many of the latest touch screen handsets already on the market. Those looking for a new phone might be interested.

Compare cheap & best pay monthly deals on LG KM900 Arena and bring the cheapest contract phone with you. We have more than hundreds of LG Arena contract deals from which most of them are offered at lowest price or free of cost. This is the latest LG phone available into the market for which we are waiting since long time. Try it and you will never get disappointed with its features & functionalities. It’s a promise!!!
